Nurse Counsellor at BreastScreen NSW South Western Sydney

“Attending a breast screen or breast assessment clinic can be overwhelming for some women. Knowing that I can provide support during this process is very satisfying. I am proud to work with a great team that ensures the clinics operate smoothly and the client’s experience is as positive as possible.

I started my training at Bankstown Hospital at the age of 18. Nursing appealed to me as I felt I could make a difference in patients’ lives. In previous nursing roles, I've worked in the Emergency Department, in Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound, and for the COVID-19 vaccinations hub.

I joined BreastScreen NSW in 2021 as a Nurse Counsellor for the South Western Sydney team. Joining BreastScreen NSW gave me that personal interaction with clients. I was also interested in this area as my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

My role includes booking women for assessment when additional tests are needed following the results of a breast screen. I also assist with biopsy procedures, participate in clinical team meetings, and provide results to clients.

Every client that is recalled to assessment deals with it differently. As a Nurse Counsellor, I treat every woman as an individual and practice empathy and support.”
