“As a UK-trained general practitioner, with both qualifications and an interest in public and women’s health, not to mention radiology - the opportunity to work for BreastScreen NSW was somewhat of a no-brainer for me.

I started working as a Breast Physician back in 2006 and today work mostly in the assessment clinics in Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour, where I perform examinations and biopsies alongside our dedicated radiologist, and ensure the smooth running of our facilities.

My favourite part of the job? Working with our clinical team on assessment days is a personal highlight. I love the way my team go above and beyond to make the assessment process as comfortable as possible for our clients, especially since a ‘call back’ can be daunting and incredibly stressful.

As a team we always try to keep our focus on clients and their needs and support them through the entire process. Over the years I’ve learnt that behind every mammogram there’s a unique woman with a unique story which requires acknowledgment and respect, to provide them with the appropriate care. Ultimately, there’s nothing better than finding a cancer early enough to change their treatment trajectory or outcome.”
