We are happy to introduce the arrival of our new and improved mobile screening van to the North and Mid-North Coast communities of NSW. This new van replaces the one lost to floods in 2022. Each year, around 34,000 women rely on BreastScreen NSW services in this region and our mobile vans provide a breast screening service on wheels for women to access life-saving mammograms closer to home.
The van will provide screening all year round and is currently stationed in Ballina until 28 March 2025 and will then move to other locations around the North and Mid North Coasts. There will be a Holiday closure period from 18 December 2024 - 6 January 2025.
The van proudly displays ‘Biyani,’ a beautiful Aboriginal artwork created by Kamilaroi and Jerrinja woman, Jasmine Sarin. Jasmine’s artwork was created specifically for BreastScreen NSW and is named after a Dharawal word describing a curative operation performed by women to cure illness in other women.
Women aged 50-74 should get a breast screen every two years as it’s the best way to detect breast cancer early. Our service is also available for all women aged 40 and above, with Aboriginal women recommended to start screening from 40 years.
Breast screening is free, and booking is easy - book online or call us on 13 20 50. We look forward to welcoming you.
